Intelius, the leading provider of background checks and information services, is seeking expansion in the face of a turbulent economy. Hundreds and thousands of jobs have been slashed, while a huge number of homes have been foreclosed; businesses large and small alike have closed down, while a majority of Americans are clueless on where the struggling economy is going to take them. Nonetheless, the current economic status seems to have only a minimal impact on Intellius. Indeed, the company is expanding its operations in Bothell, Washington. There it has erected its 25,000-square foot facility, which is expected to accommodate approximately 140 employees. Intelius revealed its plan of relocating 50 employees from its headquarters in Bellevue, Washington to its new facility by April 2009. Forty more workers, already deployed in Bothell as part of the firm’s acquirement of IntelliSense, will move to the new facility. In 2006, Intelius acquired IntelliSense as it geared towards expanding the scope and size of its employment screening solutions through the addition of fingerprinting, international background checks, and drug screening as well as meeting the needs of both large and small businesses. Based in Bothell, Washington, IntelliSense is an employment and tenant screening firm that caters to several Fortune 500 companies and the largest real estate firms in the nation. The establishment of the new campus is part of Intelius’ strategy to consolidate its enterprise group in one location and transfer its customer service operation to Bothell. Moreover, Intellius Chief Financial Officer Paul Cook recognizes the challenge of being able to sustain a strong corporate culture between both campuses; thus, they have purposely set up offices for the executives at Bothell. Founded by former InfoSpace CEO Naveen Jain, Intelius is a six-year old information commerce company currently ranked among the top 100 commerce sites on the Internet.
