Asia is incessantly loaded with jubilations, some of the most glorious of which come about in the South East. As the name paints a picture Thai Lanterns are from Thailand and are nowadays contacting a far wider audience as they gain popularity at UK events.Yee Peng festival which follows the Buddhist Calendar and translates to month 12 is one of these festivals. The Western Calendar commonly sees this coming in November. This Festival goes by the title of Loy Krathong through other pieces of Thailand. Many customs are followed during this festival by the Thai people.. My favorite action is the liberating of ‘Thai Lanterns’ or ‘Khom Loy’. Following the Lanterns light the nightsky is a rightfully impressive vision to lay eyes on. Thai people trust that the going lantern is accompanied by any woefulnesses. The light is said to point people to a bright and complete living. This fun event tempts in even westerners although im not sure if they take it as seriously or just enjoy partaking in the celebrations.Bamboo frames with a Rice Paper shell is how these Thai Lanterns are constructed in a biodegradeable fashion. There has been a rise in the popularity (excuse the pun) and has even found the Royal Thai Air Force modify their air activity and make cautionary to the airport to be cautious of future risks should a lantern get lodged in a aeroplane turbine.
